Shannon + Tom | St. Louis Engagement Photography

Oh happy, Lucky Green Day it is!

Most of you know I’m a big vintage fan, but who isn’t anymore?! I grew up with my mom having this fabulous collection that started out in closets and then made it to all the closets and then the extra drawers and finally filling two large bedrooms in their home! She has many unusual finds and very sentimental, fragile items. And a huge collection of dresses, coats and furs from the Victorian period to the late 40s. Needless to say, it has become a huge part of me. On my last visit, I grabbed all the items I could wear, including some fabulous dresses (most are extremely teeny sizes, as it was common for a women’s waist size to be 16 inches in that era! That’s a man’s neck size today!) that were stable enough to survive a styled shoot!

So on to this shoot! Remember, we went to WPPI in Las Vegas and we came back with all the fire in the world to do something creatively amazing! St. Patty’s Day was approaching, and I couldn’t find any styled shoots focused around that theme. Lucky me. I’m thinking lucky, lady, clover, green. Aha! Lucky in Love. Now, who could I find to help with my silly ideas and my last minute shoot! So I reached out to Yara from Plume Events, shared my ideas and she was in! Yippee! Ryan and I recently had dinner with the most adorable and beautiful couple, Shannon and Tom. I told them about my ideas for the shoot, and to my sweet sweet surprise, they were interested in helping out! I’m thinking oh my goodness … they are in LOVE … and they are engaged. Perfecto. So they graciously took time out of their busy days to be a part of our shoot. They were THE perfect couple to work with – totally showing off their beauty + chemistry, and totally up for anything!

Styled shoots are all about collaboration. Working together. We did this to grow as individuals and perhaps as a company. In the hopes of doing something fun and interesting to each of us! Jan Leach Style helped with the make-up + hair and was there to help focus on the fluffing. I could really get used to this! I’m lovin’ all the help! Sometimes, I’m so focused on the photography that it is hard to focus on all the details! I just see beauty through the lens! The beautiful bouquet + boutonniere were created by the ultra-talented Tina from The Special Event FloristCheree Berry Paper let us borrow some of her beautiful letterpress announcements, invitations, etc. These were a huge inspiration to get the ball rolling for this shoot. Ironically, her company is creating Shannon + Tom’s actual wedding invitations! I can only imagine how pretty they are going to be! Thank you thank you thank you to all of you for taking the time and effort out of your day to help create this Lucky in Love shoot. I feel so lucky and even more in love!

If you are up for a styled shoot, perhaps engagement or bridal, or even one focused around your family, let us know! We would love to collaborate with other talented vendors in the area to make something really, really special for you.

Enjoy some of my favorite images from our shoot – Lucky in Love!
