Shelby + Bryce | Okauchee, Wisconsin

Ooooh it’s been too long! I feel like I’m always saying that! But it has been a really long time since my last post! We are busy here with new ideas and exciting changes for HSR Photography, including a new name and look as we transition to Heather Roth Photography. Please stay tuned for all the details!

In the meantime, I have been so excited to post our trip to Okauchee, Wisconsin! People kept asking me where we were headed to shoot a wedding and all I could say was Wisconsin. I was completely embarrassed that I could not pronounce any of the town names, especially Oconomowoc! All those O’s! Ya know when you don’t know the right Spanish word and you just add an “o.” Comprendo?:)

Shelby and Bryce are so awesome in front of the camera! They have so many different looks and nail each one perfectly. They can be completely serious, then naturally transition to lovey-dovey, and then to all fun and smiles! Just the perfect way to be during a shoot, and exactly how we like to capture all the different emotions. If you would like to revisit their engagement session, click here!

So Ryan and I jumped in the car for the drive north, stopping at fun little antique malls along the way. After passing cool barn after another and flower-filled pastures, I was super excited to see what we had in store upon arrival! Shelby and Bryce planned the perfect spot for their ceremony – a place where Shelby grew up spending countless summers … Okauchee Lake! Perched directly on the water, the Golden Mast Inn is a neat little Bavarian resort where both the ceremony and reception took place. The ceremony was held out back underneath a gazebo facing the water. Guests were treated to a beautiful backdrop while watching the couple exchange their super unique vows — wow, those were from the heart!:)  One thing I really remember from the ceremony is when Shelby was getting ready to step out and walk down the aisle with her uncle. It’s like she stopped for a moment to take it all in — it was a beautiful pause. We got several images of her just looking at her guests and her soon-to-be hubby, while the guests returned the gaze just awwwwing. Loved that!

We are so excited for the both of you! AND we are so happy and honored you wanted us to be with you on your BIG day. THANK YOU!

Bethany + Kevin | St. Louis Engagement Photography

Hi, got a pretty post today! First of all, you have to, have to, have to check out Kevin’s proposal – broadcasted on live TV! Did you watch it yet?! How cute was that?! When I first met Bethany in our initial bridal consult, this story and her funny personality were cracking me up! I couldn’t believe it, and then she sent me the link. Enough said! Bethany and Kevin are such a FUN couple! We did choose a rather hot day to have the session, but it was so much fun! Enjoy the images!

We can’t wait for the BIG day, next June, at the Hidden Lake Winery in Illinois!

Meredith + Jimmy | St. Louis Engagement Photography

Someone just the other day Facebook-ed me to ask if I only take pictures of beautiful people?! ha! Made me snicker. And I guess they’re right! I do always have the prettiest, neatest, sweetest couples ever! Also ones that I can call my friend. I’m seriously so lucky.

Wanted to share Meredith + Jimmy’s engagement session. They are the most ri-diculously cutest, cuddle-y-est couple ever! They are like puzzle pieces and fit together perfectly. They are also near and dear to my heart because they chose the best day to get married EVER! October 29th – the same day Ryan and I chose. So this wedding (ceremony at St. Cecelias + reception at Windows of Washington) is going to be one.emotional.event.:)Can’t wait!

Enjoy the photos!

Heather + Cory | St. Louis Wedding Photographer in Savannah!

We were really lucky to meet Heather and her sweet mom at a bridal show in St. Louis! The moment I met her I knew we had a great connection – and I was ready to pack my bags and head to Savannah, GA! I’ve never been, and all I could envision was beautiful architecture and moss-draped oak trees – a very romantic city for photographs. And I was right! Throw in a little Southern charm, historic homes, horse carriages, boutique shopping, cobblestone streets and ice tea and you’ve got yourself a charming backdrop for a beautiful wedding!

As most of you know, Ryan and I had a very small, intimate wedding. Heather + Cory decided to do the same after having vacationed in Savannah and falling in love with the city. They decided to have a few of their nearest and dearest friends + family at their special occasion. They had great help from a local wedding coordinator – th & company events. These gals are fabulous and brought in the very best vendors. I LOVED the flowers and the clever company name – A to Zinnias. And the reception music, the Silver Lining Trio, was super awesome. I wish these guys lived in St. Louis!

Usually when I go through the images I have a big smile on my face, from ear to ear. But this time, I could not stop tearing up! I guess it reminded me of my own BIG day. You can really tell how close the family is. The day was full of huge hugs + smiles! I wanted to share some of these raw moments – like Heather’s dad seeing her for the very first time, and the moment he lifted the veil (the same one her mom wore!) during the ceremony. Sniff. Needless to say, Ryan and I both needed tissues!

We had so many great locations within the historic downtown to shoot. One being an old historic home, where, not knowing at the time we selected the location, it was one of the homes Heather + Cory visited on a previous trip! Ha, it was definitely meant to be! Then we headed over to the famous Forsyth Park to capture some stunning images with those trees I had envisioned. I should have brought a little bit of the moss back to sprinkle in Forest Park! 😉 And of course, we captured a few in front of the famous fountain in the center of the park. Heather just looked stunning, and was quite the Southern Belle! And of course, Cory is as handsome and charming as can be!

Heather + Cory – we are so thrilled you chose us to be a part of your special day. We love and appreciate that you trusted two St. Louis photographers to travel with you to capture all the wonderful moments. Thank you so much! We hope you love the images!

If anyone out there is gettin’ married and looking to travel to a destination outside of St. Louis, just let us know! We would be thrilled to join you – we LOVE having the opportunity to shoot in new places.
